How it works

From a video file to your browser

Two servers on AWS, built by Terraform and configured by Ansible. The backend is never reachable from the internet — you only ever talk to the frontend, over HTTPS.

FFmpeg

The backend loops the film forever and encodes it to H.264 + AAC.

systemd · Restart=always

RTMP

The stream is pushed to the frontend inside the private network.

TCP 1935 · VPC only

NGINX

The RTMP module ingests it and cuts it into small chunks.

HLS / DASH

Playlists and segments are written for both streaming formats.
